Terms & Conditions

Last updated: March 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before hiring a motorhome from Little Explorers Motorhomes. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. These terms form the basis of the hire agreement between you (the "Hirer") and Little Explorers Motorhomes (the "Owner").

1. Definitions

  • "Owner" means Little Explorers Motorhomes.
  • "Hirer" means the person(s) named on the hire agreement.
  • "Vehicle" means the Roller Team 747 motorhome made available for hire.
  • "Hire Period" means the period from the agreed collection time to the agreed return time.

2. Booking & Payment

2.1 Enquiry & Confirmation. Submitting an enquiry does not constitute a confirmed booking. A booking is only confirmed once the Owner has accepted the enquiry in writing and the deposit has been received.

2.2 Deposit. A non-refundable booking deposit of 50% of the total hire fee is required to secure your dates. The booking will not be held without receipt of the deposit.

2.3 Balance Payment. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before the hire start date. Failure to pay the balance by this date may result in the booking being cancelled and the deposit forfeited.

2.4 Security Deposit. A refundable security deposit of £1,000 is required prior to vehicle release. This will be returned within 24 hours of the Owner's inspection following return of the vehicle, subject to any deductions for damage, excessive cleaning, or other charges as set out in these terms.

2.5 Insurance. Hire insurance is arranged separately through Alan Boswell Group and is charged in addition to the hire fee. The Hirer is responsible for ensuring all drivers are named on the insurance policy.

3. Cancellation Policy

3.1 Cancellation by the Hirer. If you cancel your booking, the following charges apply:

  • More than 60 days before hire start: deposit forfeited
  • 30–60 days before hire start: 75% of total hire fee
  • Less than 30 days before hire start: 100% of total hire fee

3.2 Cancellation by the Owner. In the unlikely event that the Owner must cancel a booking (for example, due to vehicle breakdown or unforeseen circumstances), all monies paid will be refunded in full. The Owner's liability is limited to the return of payments made and does not extend to any consequential losses such as travel or accommodation costs.

3.3 We strongly recommend that Hirers take out appropriate travel insurance to cover cancellation costs.

4. Driver Requirements

All drivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Aged between 25 and 75 years at the time of hire
  • Hold a full, valid UK or EU driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years
  • Have no more than 6 penalty points on their licence
  • Have not been convicted of any driving offence in the past 5 years
  • Meet all underwriting criteria set by the insurance provider

Prior to vehicle release, all drivers must provide: a valid driving licence, a DVLA licence check code, and two forms of proof of address dated within the last 3 months. The Owner reserves the right to refuse hire if these requirements are not met.

5. Collection & Return

5.1 Collection. Standard collection time is 2:00pm. On turnaround days (where the vehicle is returned by a previous hirer the same morning), collection may be from 2:00pm subject to the vehicle being ready. The Hirer will be notified of any changes.

5.2 Return. The vehicle must be returned by 11:00am on the agreed return date. Late returns will be charged at £25 per 30 minutes or part thereof.

5.3 Condition on Return. The vehicle must be returned in the same clean condition as collected, with the toilet cassette emptied, waste water tank emptied, and all personal belongings removed. A cleaning charge of £75–£150 may be applied if the vehicle is returned in an unsatisfactory condition.

5.4 Fuel. The vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel. It must be returned with a full tank. Failure to do so will result in a refuelling charge plus an administration fee of £15.

6. Use of the Vehicle

The Hirer agrees to:

  • Use the vehicle only for private leisure purposes
  • Not use the vehicle for any commercial purpose or sub-hire it to any third party
  • Not drive the vehicle outside the United Kingdom without prior written consent from the Owner
  • Not carry more passengers than the vehicle is licensed to carry
  • Not smoke inside the vehicle at any time
  • Not carry any illegal substances or use the vehicle for any unlawful purpose
  • Comply with all road traffic laws and regulations
  • Take reasonable care of the vehicle and its contents throughout the hire period

7. Pets

Small, well-behaved dogs are permitted by prior written agreement only. A maximum of one dog is permitted. The Hirer accepts full responsibility for any damage, excessive cleaning, or odour caused by the pet. A minimum cleaning surcharge of £100 will apply where pet-related cleaning is required above the standard level.

8. Damage & Accidents

8.1 The Hirer is responsible for any damage to the vehicle, its contents, or third-party property caused during the hire period, whether or not the Hirer was at fault.

8.2 In the event of an accident, breakdown, or damage, the Hirer must notify the Owner immediately by telephone and must not admit liability to any third party.

8.3 The cost of repairs for damage not covered by insurance, or falling within any insurance excess, will be deducted from the security deposit. If repair costs exceed the security deposit, the Hirer will be invoiced for the difference.

8.4 The Hirer must report any damage, however minor, to the Owner before returning the vehicle. Failure to do so may result in the Hirer being held liable for the full cost of repair.

9. Breakdown & Mechanical Issues

In the event of a breakdown, the Hirer should contact the Owner immediately. The vehicle is covered by roadside assistance. The Owner will endeavour to resolve any mechanical issues as quickly as possible but cannot guarantee a replacement vehicle. No refund will be given for time lost due to breakdown unless the Owner is at fault and the vehicle cannot be repaired within 24 hours.

10. Liability

10.1 The Owner's total liability to the Hirer under these terms shall not exceed the total hire fee paid.

10.2 The Owner shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, travel costs, or accommodation costs.

10.3 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
